Plengkung known as one of the best surfing beaches in the world and is located at coordinates S: 08 43 '57, 1 "and E: 114 20 '56.5" The "G" in "G-Land" derives from Grajagan, where the name of the bay large waves that are found in the south of Banyuwangi. It is surrounded by virgin tropical forest land. G youth offers the world's most demanding surfing sport, and recommended for professional surfers only.

May to October is the best time to surf. No doubt it is a world surfer paradise. You can go to G-land to make a reservation at the site G-Land Surf Camp Bobby, www.grajagan.com, you can choose two options of transportation, first directly to G-Land with Speed ​​Boat (G-Land Express) and two , by land (bus) to Banyuwangi and directly to National Park Alas Purwo, G-Land or cross the Gulf Grajagan to Plengkung beach where the waves challenge invite the surfers.    It was around 1972 that G-Land’s surf potential was discovered. And it was two of the first surfers to come here, brothers Bill and Mike Boyum who spawned the idea of a surf camp. Mesmerized by  G-Land‘s set-up from their first trips, a deep connection formed and the desire to make their jungle camping experience established materialized in 1976.




     It’s arguable that this was the first surf camp ever created. A Balinese friend of the brothers named Nyoman “Bobby” Radiasa was part of the adventure from the beginning. Since 1982, Bobby has owned and operated the camp, continually making refinements and upgrades to the facilities. His operational vision focuses on keeping the original dream a reality, but with more comfort and safety than before. Form more than 30 years the G-Land experience of great friends, great food, friendly service and of course wave riding bliss continues

     G-Land Surf is stereotypically known for its grinding down the line barrels over shallow reef, especially when almost all photo's depict surfers slotted and committed into gaping top to bottom pits. In reality, those photo's are mostly of one section of a very long stretch of reef. When guests stay at G-Land there is an abundance of waves on offer, from the grinding left-hand barrels G Land is famous for, all the way down to small hot-dog right-handers.


The waves up the point rarely drop below head high, and flat days are almost unheard of. If the big main point break is too much to handle for your skill level, there is always quality waves further into the bay.


G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp is located directly in front of Money Trees, making the main point break directly accessible, and conditions can be assessed with a quick stroll through the camp onto the beach. To get to 20/20's and Tigertracks you can enjoy a scenic walk through the jungle or beach, although most people prefer to use our transport truck or zodiac with which we offer round trips for just a few dollars.

In the 80's and 90's G-Land was considered a true hard core surfers destination, and taking a female partner let alone kids was not common place.

During this past decade that has been changing more and more each year as G-Land Bobby's Surf Camp have been improving facilities and upgrading the food menu's every year. Our staff are also super friendly and love kids. Superior rooms with nice en suites keep the females happy while ping pong & pool tables, movie cinema room and exotic animals to see keep the family entertained.

Now we have couples coming for honey moons and vacations as well as entire families coming for their yearly vacations, and everyone has a great time.

The grommets and girlfriends can go surfing down at Tigertracks and 20/20s with our ease of access to those waves, and small Kongs is great for them too. These waves are also fun for the man as well as they are high quality and good shape, perfect for ripping it up. Dad can tackle the bigger more challenging waves out front while the family are frolicking in fun playful waves.

Tigertracks also boasts possibly the most beautiful beach in the vicinity of G-Land, and is very nice for family to hang out and enjoy for the day.


G-Land is good for families because they will get unforgettable great memories. Its a holiday, with the atmosphere of the beautiful beaches and natural forest that creates the feeling of intimacy amongst families.

G-Land gallery,,In camp we have resident surf photographer Dave Thomas and his assistant Norris, along with experience boat captain Allan.

These guys are using some of the best camera equipment available. They shoot a couple times a day from boat and from land, using a Canon 7D with some really good lens'. From the boat they can look straight into the tube, and from land Dave has exclusive usage of some custom built towers to get extra elevation for better shots. Whoever is in their shooting range will have their photo taken. The picture quality is very high and can be turned into poster sized prints even.

In the restaurant (as seen in the photo on the right) guests can browse through all the seasons photos on a big computer screen, or they can go out to Dave's photo studio in the camp and look at photos there too. You can buy your photos from Dave, and he will burn them on to a disc so you have life time memories of your G-Land trip.
